The English have a great tradition dating back to the 18th century. It’s called afternoon tea. Doesn’t matter how hot it gets, an afternoon tea is a given and a pleasure.
So why is tea a good thing in this heat, but we don’t think of perhaps having a cup of coffee to cool us down? Coffee has counter intuitive cooling powers. Sweating is your body’s main way of cooling off. When your body senses a change in temperature, it sends signals to the brain to kick-start sweat production. Then after the sweat evaporates from your skin, your body cools down.
So instead of having an iced coffee and walking straight past your office coffee machine, stop and think, which one is going to cool you down quicker?
